For the fans, the quicker this game is forgotten the better. However, there’s a little housekeeping to do before moving on to Old Dominion. In that vein, let’s check on the true freshmen that saw the field against Illinois.

Remember, playing in more than four games eliminates the chance of a redshirt for the season.

McKale Boley (Offensive Line)

Boley made his second consecutive start at left tackle for the Hoos. His total snap count was down considerably when compared to Richmond, however, as fellow offensive tackle Jonathan Leech made his debut as he works his way back from injury.

Stevie Bracey (Linebacker)

Bracey played on kick coverage units for the second week in a row. He did not record any stats against Illinois or for the season yet, however.

Xavier Brown (Running Back)

Unlike the Richmond game, Brown saw action while the game’s outcome still hung in the balance. Against the Illini, Brown carried the ball 4 times for 9 yards (2.25 yards per carry) with a long rush of 5 yards. Brown also caught his first pass as a Hoo as he made 1 catch for 7 cards on 1 target.

For the season, Brown now has 8 carries for 34 yards (4.25 yards per carry) with a long rush of 12 yards. He also has 1 catch for 7 yards.
