Florida State Seminoles

FSU has spent the last couple years building teams around highly ranked NBA prospects, but with mixed results. An up and down regular season ended with a 7-2 upset at the hands of Xavier. This year, three of those 5 stars all decided to make the jump; will the remaining 3- and 4-star veterans have the chemistry to do what the inexperienced 5-stars couldn't?

The losses of XRM, Bacon, and Isaac are significant. Those three alone scored 50 of FSU's 82 ppg last year.Everyone else was considered a role player. FSU will have 13 eligible players this year, but figuring out who of them will emerge atop the rotation is anyone's guess (so take our starters projection with a grain of salt). Walker, Forrest, and Mann are all former four-star prospects, all dribble-penetration guards, none proven as shooters or distributers; but how well will they mesh with Hamilton's last-minute hire of MJ Walker, a high usage, high ego scoring guard with designs on quickly showcasing himself for the NBA? Hamilton will need to do a better job getting these young men to gel as a team, accept roles and play defense, than he has in recent years, as FSU is quickly becoming known as a program that underperforms its talent level. This year is likely no different, and in the deep ACC and lacking the sure-fire future NBA talent, this year's FSU squad projects as an NCAA Tournament bubble team.
