NC State Wolfpack

The Wolfpack are the only ACC program changing out head coaches this offseason. As with most programs firing a coach, some degree of disarray and rebuilding is to be expected. But how bare is the cupboard for new head coach Kevin Keatts?

Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes will enter this season with the biggest set of expectations they've ever faced. Jim Larranaga has assembled arguably the most talented roster Miami has ever had, with three five-star underclassmen likely to crack the starting lineup, and losing only two players to graduation. How will the Hurricanes adjust to being the ones with the target on their backs?

Coach: Jim Larranaga; 609-403 in 23 seasons overall; 139-69 (64-42) in 6 seasons at Miami

2016-17 Record: 21-12 (10-8); ACCT Quarterfinals (8th seed); NCAAT 1st Round (8 seed)

Louisville Cardinals

Lousivlle has lived consistently in the Top 25 since joining the ACC, but at the same time the last couple seasons have proven a letdown in a lot of ways. Two years ago the recruiting scandal (keeping it PG here) led the administration to preemptively cancel the postseason. Last year the team had an excellent regular season but promptly fell flat in the postseason, failing to win a game in the ACCT and getting knocked out of the NCAAT in a 7-2 upset by Michigan. This year Louisville will have to weather a Pitino suspension (again, that *ahem* recruiting scandal) to make the most of its very talented roster.

Coach: Rick Pitino; 770-269 in 32 overall seasons (college); 416-141 in 16 seasons at Louisville...

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are looking to take that proverbial next step this year. After a surprisingly solid 2016-17 campaign that saw a ragtag group of 3-stars under a first year coach score some big upsets and make a nice run to the NIT final, can Josh Pastner get enough wins in a deep ACC to get on the right side of the bubble?

Coach: Josh Pastner; 188-89 in 8 seasons overall; 21-16 (8-10) in 1 season at Georgia Tech

2016-17 Record: 21-16 (8-10). ACCT 1st Rd (12th seed), NIT Final (6 seed).

Florida State Seminoles

FSU has spent the last couple years building teams around highly ranked NBA prospects, but with mixed results. An up and down regular season ended with a 7-2 upset at the hands of Xavier. This year, three of those 5 stars all decided to make the jump; will the remaining 3- and 4-star veterans have the chemistry to do what the inexperienced 5-stars couldn't?

Coach: Leonard Hamilton; 504-406 in 29 seasons overall; 304-196 (126-124) in 15 seasons at FSU.

2016-17 Record: 26-9 (12-6), ACCT Semifinalist (3 seed), NCAAT 2nd Round (2 seed)

Duke Blue Devils

Duke is trying to reload after losing 7 of its top 8 most experienced players this offseason, and replacing them with a fresh crop of highly ranked freshmen and a couple of low-usage sophomores. Will it be enough for Duke to return to the Top 10?

Coach: Mike Krzyzewski; 1071-330 in 42 overall seasons, 998-271 (399-166) in 37 seasons at Duke

2016-17 Record: 28-9 (11-7), Won ACCT (6 seed), NCAAT 2nd Round (2 seed)

2017 Offseason Refresh - Clemson

Posted on June 12, 2017, by StLouHoo.

CLEMSON

Clemson has struggled to get over the hump in recent years, hovering below the middle of the ACC and peaking as an NIT squad. There was hope last year that a push could be made in Jaron Blossomgame's final season, but no such luck. Can former role players elevate their games this year to replace his production and finally get Brownell back to the NCAA Tournament?

Coach: Brad Brownell, 291-188 in 15 seasons overall, 124-103 (56-66) in 7 seasons at Clemson

2016-17 Record: 17-16 Overall; 6-12 in the ACC, NIT

ACC-B1G Matchup Reaction

Posted on June 8, 2017, by StLouHoo.

Initial thoughts on the Hoos draw:

StLouHoo:

At least it's a home game. With non-conference road dates already booked at West Virginia and VCU, to say nothing of our neutral-site slate in Brooklyn (Seton Hall, Rhode Island, Vanderbilt), I was not looking forward to another power conference road date. This team needs home dates to gel.

This is our third date with Wisconsin in the last six Challenges, and it reeks of ESPN and the conferences lazily reaching for the Bennett family narrative so announcers have something to fill the pregame with. Heck, they probably already have the video piece assembled from 2013, just requires a little dusting off. A little variety from my fan's perspective would've been appreciated, as there are a lot of B1G teams we haven't seen in a long, long time.

With that said, Wisconsin could be a formidable matchup that will provide a stiff test for a young Virginia roster. This was a Sweet 16 squad last year, upending Villanova on the way, and return...

ACC Offseason Refresh

Rosters are largely set for next season around the ACC (the Cam Johnson transfer outstanding) so we can safely begin to evaluate the lineups for our conference foes. Starting next week, we will begin posting a series of program refreshers, team-by-team, to recap the offseason roster changes and give an initial outlook for all 15 ACC squads. Programs will be addressed in alphabetical order, and at the conclusion of the series, we'll unveil our initial ACC power ranking. Keep checking in, or follow us on Twitter, to keep up to date with these capsules.
