Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.hoosplace.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you send us an email, we will have and keep your email address. We will not then bombard you with marketing emails until you want to deactivate your internet account and go live in a marsh.

Cookies

We use cookies. It's true. If you care, click here for our cookie policy. Thin and crispy are the best. We are not tracking you nor allowing others to track you. Except maybe Stripe, but that is to protect all of us from fraud. See below.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Stripe Credit Card Processing

As part of its service as our credit card processor, Stripe gathers identifying information about the devices that connect to its services. Stripe uses this information to operate and improve the services it provides to us – especially for fraud detection. You can learn more about Stripe and read its privacy policy. Please follow this link for information. This tracking is for the protection of the site and of your credit card information.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your data. Period.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

None. We own you now. Just kidding. But seriously, if you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Be aware, though, that erasing your personal data might mean erasing your ability to enjoy the site. We would hate that, but we understand.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Our contact information

We may be contacted by email at admin@hoosplace.com. We may also be found on Twitter at @HoosPlace. At least until Elon Musk ruins it.

Additional information

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We don't mean that. If you have questions, that's kind of weird and will freak us out. Because, really, who cares about this shit and we are sure that not a single person has read this far.

We love how the Brits say "PRIV-acy". It might be the only thing Seattle Hoo likes about the Brits. So, please read it as our "Priv-acy Policy".
